The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses its deepest sorrow over the deaths of five Ethiopian citizens in Yemen (May 22, 2015)
Five Ethiopian citizens were killed and two injured in an air-strike by the Saudi-led coalition at a refugee camp in Yemen yesterday, Thursday (May 21). The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has requested the Saudi embassy in Addis Ababa to provide an urgent and comprehensive explanation for the attack and for the deaths. The Ministry has also asked for details of the incident from the Ethiopian Embassy in Sana’a and is closely following the situation. It is all the more disappointing that the deaths came during an intensive effort by the Government to evacuate more than 3,000 Ethiopian citizens from Yemen in collaboration with the Saudi Arabian Government. The Ministry extends its deepest condolences to the families of the victims and to the people of Ethiopia on the death of these innocent Ethiopian citizens.
