State Minister Ambassador Taye Atske-Selassie met State Secretary of the Federal Foreign Office of Germany, Markus Ederer (April 13).
The two ministers thoroughly discussed upon diverse national as well as regional issues of major significance. Ambassador Taye touched upon Ethiopia’s unremitting commitment to see a secured, p…rosperous and stable sub region in particular and continent in general and in order to realize such composure, he expressed that his country highly invested itself. On the issues of migration, he raised that Ethiopia is a source, transit and destination country for refugees and in order to curb such scenarios, the government of Ethiopia has devised shrewd policy and strategy and is highly dedicated for its effective implementation. Ambassador Taye further underscored that; for a success to be achieved it is of immense importance to work in close collaboration.
State Secretary for the Federal Office, Markus Ederer, appreciated Ethiopia’s activities as characteristic in effectively employing its resources for a secured region and the continent. Further, he hailed the responsibility Ethiopia assumed in hosting more than 800,000 refugees which makes one of the largest refugee recipients in the world. Besides, he noted Ethiopia as an anchor state for the preservation of peace and security in the region and called upon Ethiopia to continue its role model activities. Germany has been supporting AMISOM under the framework of African Union.
The State Secretary added, his country is interested in extending support to Ethiopia in education and sustainable energy resources.
