The web conference involved an audience from various backgrounds such as politicians, businessmen, think-tanks, journalists and many more. H. E Ambassador Mulu Solomon Bezuneh, affirmed, in her opening speech, that
the Ethiopian government was forced to go into the law enforcement operation, as TPLF was involved in various criminal acts, was unwilling to undergo a peaceful resolution and instead chose a violent means and attacked the National Defence Force in Tigray region to destabilize the country. That It also, destroyed the infrastructure in Tigray while it was escaping. She also mentioned that though, TPLF was defeated in the battle, it started, another battle of misinformation digital campaign against Ethiopia by its allied diaspora and small number of foreigners and international media who started relaying the same immediately after TPLF was defeated in the battle it started. She added that the Ethiopian Government is currently reconstructing the destroyed infrastructure by TPLF, and is working its level best in distributing humanitarian aid in cooperation with UN and other humanitarian agencies.Invited speakers Dr. Prince Asfa-Wossen Asserate and Prof. Dr. Ivo Strecker shared their experience as well as how the TPLF has created division and distrust among Ethiopians, resulting in a wave of conflict across the country. They also indicated that Ethiopia should focus on building a peaceful and democratic Ethiopia where there is unity within diversity, as TPLF is now gone. Regarding the said human right violation issue in Tigray which was raised in the meeting, her excellency responded that independent institutions have started investigating. When the results come and issues are founded, serious legal measure will be taken to whoever may have done the wrong. Also confirmed that the Ethiopian Government is duty bound about human right violation to take proper measures unconditionally. In conclusion, the ambassador has briefly informed the participants about the progress of the reform, the upcoming free and democratic election in June, the Ethiopian expectation of win-win negotiation of GERD and the issue of Ethiopian and Sudan boarder conflict that Ethiopia would always look for peaceful resolution.
