On March 03, 2021 H.E. Mulu Solomon Bezuneh, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ethiopia to the Federal Republic of Germany discussed with Honourable Eva-Maria Schreiber, Chairperson of Economic Cooperation and Development Committee at the German Bundestag (Parliament). Discussions focused on the current situation in Ethiopia, the GERD and issues related to the border issue with the Sudan.
On the occasion, H.E. Ambassador Mulu briefly touched on the genesis to the current situation in Ethiopia and that the government was forced to take action to restore rule of law and the many challenges that the Government of Ethiopia has at hand and its tremendous efforts in rebuilding Tigray, addressing humanitarian needs, investigating human right violation claims, the overall reform and development of Ethiopia. She also stressed that disinformation has a far-reaching impact in further repelling investments to the country and increase in unemployment, which intern affect especially women, and the youth. With regard to the 6th national election, ambassador Mulu highlighted that it will be held on June 5, preparations, activities, invitation of observers have been made.The Ambassador also underscored that Ethiopia is ready for a peaceful and negotiated outcome from both, on the GERD and Border issue with the Sudan. On her final remark, H.E stated that Ethiopia has allowed unfettered access for journalists and Humanitarian assistance so that the international aid would come. In addition, she mentioned about the pressure put on the government would be better if it is changed into giving support and called up on the Honourable Eva-Maria Schreiber to note and consider the situation on the ground and support the Ethiopian government to fulfil the humanitarian needs, to attain stability and peace in the country and beyond. Honourable Eva-Maria Schreiber on her part thanking for the briefing and the answers for her questions expressed her hopes for engagements in the future.
