Ambassador Teferi confers with Dr. Uschi Eid, President of German Africa Foundation (DAS)
Ambassador Teferi Tadesse, held discussions with Dr. Uschi Eid, President of German Africa Foundation (DAS) on November 7, 2022 at the office of the Foundations President. Discussions focused on the peace agreement signed in Pretoria, between the Government of Ethiopia and TPLF and ways to enhance support for reconstruction and business and investment.
Ambassador Teferi on the occasion noted that not only Ethiopia but all partner countries has won because of the peace agreement, adding that the government of Ethiopia expresses its gratitude for the financial support the European Union has made to the peace talks. The Ambassador has applauded the African Union, its high commissioner; Former President of Kenya and Former Deputy President of South Africa and observers for their successful undertaking of the peace negotiation in a spirit of African Solution to African Problems.
Ms. Ubah Mohamed, Head of the Business Diplomacy in the Embassy on her part has briefly explained the investment priority areas of Ethiopia where the government provides incentives. She expressed the Embassies readiness to work with the Foundation to facilitate investment by Germany companies in Ethiopia. She also mentioned the tangible result of Ethiopian home-grown economic reform. On Agriculture sector Ms. Ubah highlighted that on food self-sufficiency the Governments Programs coupled with mobilization of the efforts of farmers has resulted in surplus agricultural produce this year.
Dr. Uschi Eid on her part expressed her happiness on the peace agreement signed between the Government of Ethiopia and TPLF. The president assured that the Foundation will work strongly on Partnership between Ethiopian and German Small and Medium German Companies as they are bases for strong economic foundation.
Mrs. Sabine Odhiambo, secretary General of the Foundation on her part noted that the Foundation is working closely on a project with Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development – BMZ that aims to support entrepreneurs from the Diaspora with a financial package to start a small business.
