H.E. Ambassador Mulu holds discussions with her Nigerian counterpart to garner support from Africa’s biggest economy
H.E. Ambassador Mulu Solomon held discussions with H.E. Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar at his office on September 5, 2022. Discussions focused on the current situation in Ethiopia and Nigeria and ways to cooperate and support matters of mutual interest in fighting terrorist groups in both countries.
On the occasion H.E. Ambassador Mulu made a briefing on the current situation in Ethiopia touching on the August 24 aggression of neighboring regions of Afar and Amhara by the TPLF, the terrorizing, killing raping, destruction, and displacement of people, conscription of young children for war, utilization of human wave tactics and theft of Humanitarian Fuel by the TPL.
On the other hand, the Ambassador noted that the government and the defense forces are defending the civilian populations against attacks. H.E. Ambassador Mulu underlined that the government is committed to a negotiated peace via the facilitation of the African Union in a spirit of an African Solution by Africans. To this end, she highlighted the need for the international community to support the African Union-led peace process
H.E. Ambassador Mulu underscored that the terror activities by the TPLF have given the opportunity for terror groups such as the OLF Shene and Al-Shabab to try to infiltrate Ethiopia. The Ambassador noted that due to this it’s high time for Africans to work together and support each other on matters of mutual interest such as terrorism.
Ethiopia in an effort to be energy self-sufficient and green economy by reducing pollution and degradation of land has planted 25 billion trees under the auspices of the Green Legacy introduced by H.E. Dr. Abiy Ahmed, Prime Minister of Ethiopia, adding it has completed the third filling of the GERD.
Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, on his part, noted the special relations Ethiopia and Nigeria has assured H.E. Ambassador Mulu of his Countries readiness to work in a spirit of African Solution for the African problem.
